IDS 2010: Toronto design fun...

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

Last Sunday I dragged a girlfriend and hit the Interior Design Show at the Metro Toronto Convention centre. IDS 10 was a good time. Smaller than I had imagined, however, all the booths and displays were fantastic eye candy.  Even heard Canadian House & Home Editor Suzanne Dimma spell out the 2010 trends. Surpringsly a mixed bagged of trends. Almost like anything goes. From British Colonial to gypsy to indie chick and to luxe lounge. Covers it all and I kind of like that. I missed Canadian design guru BG (Brian Gluckstein) time BG, next time. But I really think IDS 2011 should feature short presentations from popular design that would be fun.  Can you imagine bloggers speaking from Apartment Therapy, or injecting Canadiana through Meade Design Group, Colour Me HappyDesign Ties or Michael Penney?  Anyway, the show left me wanting to go shopping for new design thrills...definitely keeping my design mojo going. Here are some pictures courtesy of Della Robins from The Globe and Mail.

Very cool CBC radio.

Cool chair interpretations from design students.

  Glass black blob lighting. Interesting.

I love these design shows - I make sure to attend each of the Vancouver events!! Kelly and Donna are planning to attend IDS 2011... maybe I'll buy a plane ticket and join them!! So many Ontario bloggers went this year - wouldn't it be fantastic if we could arrange to get together?! Something to think about, definitely! Thanks so much for including DesignTies in your list of Canadian blogs!!
