Relief through global art...

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

My best friend C has an uncle who lives in Sendai, Japan. For a few terrible days they could not reach him and fortunately he escaped the devastation as he was in Tokyo when nightmare hit. As we hear in daily news reports, not many people from that region were so lucky. So how can writing a little happy happy decor blog seem at all significant? Believe it or not, there are tons of bloggers and artists out there that are using their voices and creations to make a difference. Just check out these blogs here, herehere and here. Take a browse through Etsy and you'll see some wonderful artists using their work as a medium to help make a difference. Small yes...but significant indeed.
Blossoms for Japan available by Carrie Willingham on Painted Bliss available through her Etsy store. All the proceed for this painting will go to the American Red cross for the earthquake relief.
Versets by Mary Ann Wakeley with all proceeds going to the Japan Tsunami Relief. Available at her etsy store.
A beautiful piece by Lisa who is donating 100% of her March sales to the Japan earthquake victims. Amazing. Available here.
Typography of Tokyo street names by Indira Albert from the UK. 15% of the sales will go to Japan earthquake relief. Available here
Strength elephant available at pixiecampbell with proceeds also going to earthquake relief.
Available at the All Day Everyday Project by The Living Conspiracy from Germany. Proceeds also going to relief efforts in Japan.

Gorgeous... the work and the thought behind them. I just purchased one of the Army for Japan T-Shirts for B... it seems like there just isn't enough one can do to help, but of course every little bit is needed! Thanks for sharing these!
