Hubby want's another re-vote claiming that I was not fair in sharing the big picture of the kitchen. Truth be told I don't really like my kitchen. Not a huge fan of those fruitwood (builder name for orange) kitchen cabinets. Oh and those columns (yuck). But this is not my forever house (aka dream house) so I have to make the most of it and I have to learn to focus on the positive. Pheww...feel better with that little confession. Back to the point of this post. Here is our FULL kitchen/dining area. Once upon a time I loved my kitchen table but these days its a live with. Spent stupid money on that table so its around for a while. Hubby also wants me to mention that we plan to put the art featured in my living room in the kitchen (largely because I want new art in the living room but it really does fit better in here). So I think that is all the info you need to end this feud.
My full kitchen and dining area. I can't believe I'm actually posting this picture but fair is fair and I'm trying to be fair here.  Image via me.
Another angle just so I'm being totally fair. Image via me.

Hubby Pick. Another angle of the Crate & Barrel Cirque Three-Door Sideboard

My pick. Different view of the Bathurst Credenza from Stylegarage.

So DW, I may be the only one to side with your hubby, but I really do like the first one.(don't be mad at me, please?) :D

I voted for the crate & barrel too, but it was definitely a close decision. I like the crate & barrel for that location (the colour works better, the height is better for serving). I'm actually not sure the Stylegarage credenza would be visible behind the dining table and chairs, as it would be about 5 or 6 inches lower than the table you have there now. But i do love the Stylegarage credenza better overall, because i think you could take it to your forever home and use it in just about any room.

I like hubby's pick now too! i agree with above, seems like stylegarage one is a tad bit too short. but it is lovely.

I meant to vote yesterday :) So, here goes... I really like the shape of hubby's pick and would vote for that one... though a small part of me thinks it may be too dark for the space. I love your pick but I don't think it's the right height for what you need it for :)

I originally picked your husband's choice, but seeing the whole space, I think it's too much black. The chest combined with the black chairs and black table base makes the room feel too heavy. I think the lighter wood will look fantastic and the chrome legs will play well with the chrome accents on the table you're keeping.

I didn't vote yesterday because it appeared you had won the majority but I prefer your hubby's pick (yesterday and today). But I'm a sucker for dark wood! With all that sun coming in from the window, I don't think it will be too dark for the space and I think it goes better with the dining table vs. your pick. I do love your pick but for a different room.

Even without the full picture, I would go with your hubby's choice (sorry, are we still friends?). And with the full picture, it's definitely the still the copper one.

It's a very interesting piece, I think, rather unusual, and I like that. I think there's enough wood with the kitchen units, so different material and texture will look good!

That's my 2cents anyway!

Good luck!

Meera xx

Yesterday and Today too - Hubby's pick . Looks like he lured you into the voting again :-). Actually the color of ur pick suits the kitchen cabinets better and his the chairs. No No lets not confused - go for his choice :-)

Shanthi said... [Reply to comment]

I just wanted to add - whoever spends more time in the kitchen should get the preference to choose :-)

,..Crate and Barrel wins...

I second Shanthi in both points - who spends more time in the kitchen in your house?

Your pick works with the existing kitchen cabinets, his works well with your table and chairs - both not what you want to have in your dream house. Difficult choice. For the kitchen I prefer Crate and Barrel.

I definitely love yours! Because it will be perfect when you paint out your cabinetry, right? :) I have almost the same stain on my cabinetry, and just this morning I was showing D. some painted kitchens.. half way through he began to get suspicious!!
