Nursery moodboard...I need help

Thursday, December 22, 2011

So I quickly pulled together a little moodboard for my new niece. There are some 'gotta live with it because we are not paying for new stuff now' kind of things I need to work around, but hey its a start. Anyway, wall colour is BM Raindance (a light greeny, bluey grey colour). The crib and grey glider stay. Same goes with the double bed which needs to accomodate much needed new mommy sleep. So I have already got the Cozamia Night Peonies print (can I say its GORGEOUS) and ordered Jen Ramo's LOVE prints (ahem, one for myself too). But it feels like something is missing? I can't quite place it. Come on you design savvy readers....what do I need to do to give it that extra 'something something'? A 5lb cutie is waiting for it.

I think it looks really pretty and I adore the prints you chose. Have a jolly good day, sunshine. xo

Oooh so pretty!
And love Christine's idea about something sparkly and shiny. Maybe some bling for this lil' bundle?!

something shiny-brassy??
some task lighting?? I always find myself blinded by overhead lighting.
A funky mobile??

Gorgeous! I think that the print is so beautiful. I agree with some bling, but maybe also some textured. A ruffled pillow on the glider? a throw? Maybe something animally? Indigo has some super cute leather stuffed animals right now.

I think what you have going on is fabulous! The color scheme is so pretty, as are those pillows--are they going in the room? Maybe a cool lamp somewhere? But honestly I think you got it covered!

To add some texture and warm the space up a little more, how about a rug? And, maybe add a mobile for a natural, organic element that ties in with the peonies and bird print?

Some front facing bookshelves?

Twinkle lights:

A pretty DIY mobile, over the change table or crib:

maybe a pouf, or small area rug? Ball fringe along the inside edge of drapes (like Tommy and Sarah used?) Slip cover (aka wrap another fabric) around the seat of the chair? A pretty throw for the end of the twin bed?

Take some before and afters!!! it will look great!

5lbs? So teenie weenie! my jumbo baby (6 weeks - 12lbs now) is resting in his sling on me at the moment...babies rock!

I am a big fan of built-in storage, so perhaps add something like what Jen at Rambling Renovators did with Chloe's room?

get some accent in mustard. the color tone looks too two dimensional. It does not look layered. Add some warm yellow hues and they would pop the otherwise muted colors

Oh another idea...a basket or two for the natural a basket to hold stuffed animals (she will have 1 million soon) or laundry...

I would also throw one more unexpected color into the mix...

This moodboard is GORGEOUS!! In my opinion, what is missing is a plush toy or something baby-like. Just to give it a "baby touch" ;) said... [Reply to comment]

Anthropologie has adorable stuffed animals on sale right now. How about a cute little rocking horse in a plush brown with a cute pink saddle? And, i should have said to start, your moodboard kicks!

I am with Christine, something shiny or sparkly was what I first thought! Do take photos along the way!

Found your post because I'm contemplating purchasing that exact Cozamia print. I think you may have sold me on the idea!
