Happy birthday to me..prezzies for you!

Monday, March 19, 2012

Today marks another year older for me. Instead of worrying about anti-aging cremes, photo-facials and basic full body makeovers (who am I kidding, I'll always do that) I decided that I am going to celebrate with all of you. How you ask? A week full of GIVEAWAYS that's how! And not just any ordinary giveaways either. I have rounded up talented 'desi' artists around the globe who are graciously giving away delightful art and jewellery! Fabulous right? So today we start with uber talented San Francisco artist Nidhi Chanani who is an illustrator extraordinaire!  She was born in Calcutta but raised in suburban California and her blend of the two worlds is evident in her art. I asked what inspires her and Nidhi let me know that her inspiration comes from nature, the sleepy faces of her kitties and simple things like her husband holding her hand while she shops. Nidhi has an Etsy shop here, as well as a website and a blog where she illustrates daily. Have a look at some of her work..
Maybe I should bust out an Indian suit and run through some fields today ....good way to celebrate my birthday no? Lovely print created by Nidhi here.
Colourful country gals image created by Nidhi here.
One of my best childhood memories was when my mom brushed & braided my hair. This illustration is available here.

So one of you lucky readers will win this Art Print children's book called "Everyday Love" which features over 98 illustrations over 96 pages of Nidhi's fabulous work! Seriously..you don't need a kid to enter this one. I would love this book for myself!

What do you have to do? Easy Peezy.

1. Go visit Nidhi's shop and tell me what your favourite piece of work and leave me a comment here.
2. Tweet about this awesome talent and leave me a comment below to tell me you did.
3. Follow me and let me know.

So you have up to 3 entries each. Sweet right?

Nidhi is so awesome that she is willing to ship her lovely art book internationally (but no tracking on the the book folks). I will announce winners on Monday  March 26, 2012! What are you waiting for, enter now!

A very happy birthday to you, DW! You are fabulous for hosting the giveaways to celebrate!

I am a huge fan of Nidhi Chanani and receive her daily illustration in my inbox. Her work is just so lovely and a wonderful reminder to capture the everyday moments of love.

Her book looks so very sweet! I would love to win it!

Looking through her shop, I have so many favourites, but the one that captures me and Colin is the Cute Book Lover Couple in the bedroom so I'll go with that :)

Thank you for hosting this very lovely giveaway!

Happy Birthday Sundeep! Thanks for the week of giveaways--I know they'll all be as fabulous as this one! I'd heard of Nidhi's work earlier--and I love her art, would love to hold that book in my hands. My pick from her shop would be the Bansuri woodburning art...that's major talent there!

Happy Birthday!

There are so many prints to love. I found myself saying, "That one's my favorite, no that one, no that one..." But if I absolutely had to choose(and this is a blog where that's encouraged,) it'd be the rainy day print with the girl in the red jacket with her head turned up to embrace the rain surrounded by people with their umbrellas up. I adore that one.

Thanks for hosting this terrific giveaway!

This stuff really hits home. Especially the piece with the hair being braided into some ref hairstyle probably. Love it. Bc I am your sister you are going to disqualify me but I am happy to buy something from her site. Still deciding what!

Prabh said... [Reply to comment]

I love a lot of Nidhi's pieces because I can relate to so many of them. My favorite would be Indian Sari - Field of Yellow. I think I'm going to order it for our family room. That image just reminds me of watching the Bollywood movies from the 80s with that typical scene of the saree blowing in the wind!

Prabh said... [Reply to comment]

I'm already a follow and just tweeted! Happy Belated birthday and thanks again for these awesome contests!
