The before. Meh, nothing special here. Totally worn out looking and such an ugly sage green. It came with the house and we put up some 'wallpaper for windows' for privacy thanks to a Home Show conversion where HGTV star Peter Fallico told us to do it (I actually went up and asked him). Speaking of which, where is he nowadays?
New glass inserts in! Not bad I say, not bad at all. It was either this or some ornate lion motif. (I just shivered because I think my neighbours got that one). R taped and primed the doors with Benjamin Moore super duper exterior primer stuff.
The after! Painted with Benjamin Moore Onyx (Aura Exterior Paint in Semi-gloss). I think the black looks fantastic. Now we're not quite done as we have to paint out that white weather stripping all around the door. R claims we can't use the same paint...I think we can. Must consult a paint person because now we are at a standstill. But I like the black...makes my pink flowers look even better. I'm craving new door handles and a new exterior light fixture. Suggestions anyone? All images via me.

wow this looks great and you have such a beautiful entrance!!
Wow, the new doors look awesome! I really like the frosted pattern and that you went with black - it looks so sharp!
I LOOOOOOOOVE your new door colour. Stately, stunning and so pretty. xo
I looks amazing! We need to paint our front door... For some reason, it's about the last thing I think about it terms of things to paint.
It would be best to replace weather stripping to black but a quick fix u could paint with the same paint. Aura sticks to anything!
Insanely beautiful!!! :-)
I'm thinking of painting mine yellow.... Hello! Summer!!!
You have a beautiful blog.

Love the new doors. There's only one chance to make a first impression, and these doors make it a good one!!
@Tammy @paint_lady I didn't even know I could buy black weather stripping! thanks for the idea!
I'm new to your blog, but this door is beautiful! xoxo
Looking good! We changed our transom insert as well to get a more complete look.
Wow! That new door is stunning! Love the full glass, but that it's frosted. Great choice!
Love the change! We are just working up the guts to paint all of our windows and doors black.
Are the front doors steel? How did you cut out the larger opening? Any tips would help... this is a great idea to lighten up the foyer in my house. Love your blog...
What a great transformation!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Can't wait to explore yours!
Lovely!
I love black doors! Yours looks great as it sort of makes the rest of the house pop as well! The sage before made everything a bit washed out.
It looks awesome! Painting our front door is definitely on my list this summer! Oh, and the peacocks and lions are making me laugh out loud...
KILLER!!!!! I am so wanting to do that now to mine! PS - I think a simple pendant light hanging down from the overhang would look lovely!
These look amazing! I hate those ornate windows too! We have a similar door to your first pic only we had an ornate window and changed it out to just plain glass as soon as we moved in. Hoping for a really nice door system one day!
this is my first time visiting your blog and i can't wait to learn more about you and your projects! I think you've chosen a fantastic front door color and the cast iron on your door is great! Did you do that yourself or you've hired someone to do it and what's the design of the door called? We have cast iron detail for our door as well and boy...it cost a lot ;(
The new door will take the curb appeal of your house to another level - looks amazing. The flowers pop!
OOOOH!!!! I love it!

Nice door very chic, fab for a impromptu revamp - London N
gorgeous!
That was an elegant transformation. Black is one of the classiest colors, wherever it is used. It brought out the interesting details on the glass part of your door. Your old door doesn’t look so bad, but this is definitely a better replacement. Maybe you can add some spotlights near your door. That would leave a lasting impression on those who see it!
its really awesome door and like window doors. i like it. i should be get this door for my shop. its impressive.Garage Door repair Crystal Lake
The use of color, pattern and furniture style is the smartest part of the decor
Actually, giving my front door a facelift is always on the top of my list. I'm always on the look for the perfect front door. Maybe because it's one of the things people see before they enter your house. It can also say a lot about you and what they will be expecting inside your house. By the way, your new front door looks more appropriate and neat than the gray one.
Nice post. I used to be checking constantly this weblog and I am impressed!
